On Monday December 29th, the Legion Honors Team travelled to Dearborn Heights to provide a Firing Team and Bugler for Milford resident and Korean USAF Veteran Tony Burnette. The firing team consisted of Rich Chowaniec (Commanding), Ron Nevorski, Ike Eickholdt, Percy Duncan, Lance Oberg, and Ray Clinard. Don Stevenson was the Bugler.

Ellis (Al) Driller

On Thursday December 18th the Legion Honors Team conducted military honors for U.S. Army Korean Veteran Ellis Driller. 1st Sgt. Driller was a decorated Veteran having served in Korea. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

On Wednesday evening, members of the Honors Team conducted a Silent Watch (vigil) at Lynch Funeral Home. Participating were John Moore, Joe Salvia, and Lance Oberg.

The Firing team for the funeral service consisted of Rich Chowaniec, John Moore, Ray Clinard, Chuck Bowman, Lance Oberg, Ike Eickholdt, and Ron Nevorski.

The Color Guard consisted of Skip Davison, Jerry Mantela (AMVETS), and John Robinson.

Ralph Stanley Herron

On Friday December 12th the Legion Honors Team conducted full local military honors for U.S. Army WWII Veteran Ralph S. Herron. Mr. Herron was a decorated Veteran having served in WWII and a participant in The "Battle of the Bulge." He was the grandfather of Todd Herron who is a member of Post216's Honor Guard. Mr. Herron was a well known and loved member of the community, and "Santa" to all of the kid's in the Milford area.

On Thursday night, members of the Honors Team conducted a Silent Watch (vigil) at Lynch Funeral Home. Participating were John Moore, Joe Salvia, Lance Oberg, John Robinson, Todd Herron, and Ray Clinard.

Prior to the funeral service the full Honors Team including Past Commander Bob Janoska passed by the bier to pay their respects.

At Friday's funeral service, Joe Salvia, John Moore, John Robinson, and Lance Oberg conducted the flag folding and presentation part of the honors. Lance Oberg presented the flag. Rich Chowaniec commanded the Firing Team consisting of Ron Nevorski, Bob Godwin, Chuck Bowman, Ray Clinard, Ike Eickholdt, and Ron Nevorski.

On Friday November 21st the Legion Honors Team conducted full local military honors for M/Sgt Nelson A. Taber. M/Sgt Taber fought in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam and was a POW in Africa in WWII. He is to be interned in Arlington Cemetery.

Joe Salvia, John Moore, and Lance Oberg conducted the flag folding and presentation part of the honors. Rich Chowaniec commanded the Firing Team consisting of Ron Nevorski, Bob Godwin, Chuck Bowman, Ray Clinard, and Ike Eickholdt.

Cloyd Olney Feigley

It is with deep regret that we report the passing of Cloyd Olney Feigley. Cloyd faithfully served our nation as a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran during WWII. He was a member of the 356th Fighter Squadron stationed throughout Europe. He was a founding member of E.F. Oldenburg Post 216 in Milford , and was instrumental in the Post's acquisition of the land and current building. Cloyd was a lifetime member of the Milford community and will be greatly missed by it's citizens and his family.

On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, the Honor guard provided full military honors for Cloyd at Milford Memorial Cemetery. The flag presentation team consisted of Lance Oberg, John Moore, and Joe Salvia.
The Rifle team consisting of Dave Horst, Ray Clinard, Ron Nevorski, Chuck Bowman, Rich Chowaniec and Joe Bishop was commanded by Skip Davison. The Bugler was Don Stevenson. The Color Guard was led by Nortie Caswell and included Jerry Mantela, Percy Duncan, and Ike Eickholdt.

A silent watch was conducted by Lance Oberg, John Moore, and Joe Salvia at both the funeral home viewing on Tuesday, and at the church on Thursday morning.

The team supported Air Force personnel who conducted the flag presentation ceremony with a rifle volley and taps. Ed Weiss

On Friday March 14th, the Post 216 Honor Guard provided funeral honors for USMC Veteran Ed Weiss.
The interment was at the Hodge Cemetery in Hartland. Former USMC Sgt. Rich Chowaniec commanded the firing team consisting of John Moore, USMC Veteran Ron Nevorski, Ray Clinard, Joe Bishop, and Skip Davison. USMC Veteran Bob Godwin carried the Marine colors and Percy Duncan carried the national colors. Don Stevenson was the Bugler.
