AMERCAN LEGION MEMBER PASSES
The American Legion received the sad news of the loss of one of its faithful members, Ken Dean.
Dean, who had been burdened with a longtime illness, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, Dec. 3, at his winter residence in Florida.
Dean was an active member of the American Legion for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and the Michigan Army National Guard, both as an enlisted man and officer, ending his military service as a First Lieutenant. He was also a member of the Holly Masonic Lodge.
Before retiring in 1994 from General Dynamics, Dean spent six months in Germany and Egypt as a field service representative. Back home, Dean and his wife Karen traveled in their RV throughout the U.S. doing field service work. They lived in the Milford area for 25 years and have resided in Hartland for 13 years, spending the winter months in Florida.
The most important thing in his life was his love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, their sons Jeff, Brian, Kevin, and daughter Kirsten Shorr. Ken was blessed with eight grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Mathis and Marie Dean.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1:30 p.m. at Milford Presbyterian Church, 238 N. Main Street, Milford. A luncheon will follow after the service around 3 p.m. at the Milford American Legion Hall, 510 W. Commerce Road, Milford.

Greetings:
I would first like to thank each and every member of Post 216 for your
service to our great country.
On 2-22-10, my brother-in-law Brian Lynn Forsyth was laid to rest at the
National Cemetery in Holly. My wife Connie and I would like to let you
know that we appreciate the fact that your men were there to honor him,
and to make our last memory of him with us a truly memorable one. With the
snow and wind it was surly not a good day to be outside, but like true
service men, your members preformed there duties without hesitation. I got
to tell you I am getting choked up just writing this. But anyway again, I
am so very proud to be an American, and so greatful to you all, not just
the men who were at the National Cemetery Monday, but each of you and all
of our Veterans. You are the greatest.
Sincerely, Ken and Connie Wells
Brother-in Law, and Sister of Brian Lynn Forsyth
