On Friday August 3, the Legion Honor Guard provided military honors at the memorial service of U.S. Army and Korean War Veteran Wilbur Welsh. The memorial service was held at the Post 216 Legion hall and the team provided the Flag folding and Presentation service, Taps, and Rifle volley. Honor Guard members participating were, John Moore, Lance Oberg, Mel Easterday, Rich Chowaniec, Don Stevenson, Skip Davison, Dave Horst, and Dale Feigley. The event was coordinated by John Moore. The Flag ceremony was conducted by John Moore, Mel Easterday, and Lance Oberg. Lance presented the flag to Mrs. Welsh. Rich commanded the Firing Team, and Don was the Bugler.

On Wednesday July 7, members of post 216 provided a flag fording ceremony and Taps for U.S. Navy (Seabee) Veteran Arthur Derisley. Joe Salvia, John Moore, and Lance Oberg conducted the flag ceremony with Navy Veterans Don Stevenson playing the bugle and Skip Davison presenting the flag to Mrs. Derisley. The ceremony was at the Lynch Funeral Home in Milford.

The Color Guard participants were Larry Shaver (AMVET) and Jerry Mantela (AMVET). The Firing Team commanded by Skip Davison consisted of Ray Chaplin, John Moore, Rich Chowaniec, Chuck Bowman, Dale Feigley and Joe Bishop. Don Stevenson was the Bugler. The team conducted a Final Salute at Lynch Funeral Home prior to the funeral.

Greetings:
I would first like to thank each and every member of Post 216 for your
service to our great country.

On 2-22-10, my brother-in-law Brian Lynn Forsyth was laid to rest at the
National Cemetery in Holly. My wife Connie and I would like to let you
know that we appreciate the fact that your men were there to honor him,
and to make our last memory of him with us a truly memorable one. With the
snow and wind it was surly not a good day to be outside, but like true
service men, your members preformed there duties without hesitation. I got
to tell you I am getting choked up just writing this. But anyway again, I
am so very proud to be an American, and so greatful to you all, not just
the men who were at the National Cemetery Monday, but each of you and all
of our Veterans. You are the greatest.

John Laidlaw

On Saturday February 13, The Post Honor Guard rendered military funeral honors for U.S. Army and Viet Nam veteran John Laidlaw. The team supported MSG Rectors Honors Team in conducting the ceremony. The Rifle Team members were Rich Chowaniec commanding, and Ron Nevorski, Skip Davison, Joe Bishop, Chuck Bowman, Bob Godwin, Dennis Finkbeiner, and Ike Eickholdt. Color Guard members were John Moore, Nortie Caswell, Todd Heron, Dale Feigley, and AMVETS members Larry Shaver and Jerry Mantela.

Commander John Nelson officiated the ceremony and Ray Clinard was the Chaplain.

James Cline

On Monday January 25, the Legion Honor Guard provided military interment honors for U.S. Army veteran James Cline at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
