2nd Vice Commander Phil Weitlauf of American Legion 216 has spearheaded the effort to restore the War Dog Memorial located in Lyon Township Michigan. Through his leadership and commitment, and many hours spent, he assembled a diverse group of volunteers to cleanup and restore this cemetery. These volunteers included members of AmVets-Post 2006 Milford, American Legion-Post 216 Milford, American Legion-Post 346 Farmington, American Legion-Post 338 South Lyon, Kiwanis Club of South Lyon, Vietnam Dog Handlers Association, Hanabrit German Shepherds Highland, 52nd District Court Oakland Country, Patriot Guard, Operation Injured Soldiers and Forgotten Eagles and individual volunteers. The re-dedication of this Memorial was held on November19th.

Shown below are just a few of the many pictures and videos that were taken during Joe Bishop's recent return to Korea. Joe's son Hans, paid for the tour trip and accompanied his Dad. They were among hundreds of other Korean War Veterans who were returning to Korea after some 70 years. Because of Joe's extensive participation in Post 216's Honor and Color Guards he was immediately recruited for the South Korean Color Guard unit as pictured below. Joe will be glad to talk to each of you and share his pictures and stories.
